Fun, lively, team and individual physical energy – hockey rules!

Being part of a leadership team building and opening new hotels, gaining my MSc in HR and miming an Oasis song whilst ‘playing’ the drums on a team building day, in my pyjamas!
Alison Lambert MCIPD Associate HR Consultant
Why do you work in the field of HR?
Because I love seeing people learn and grow throughout their career. Providing the tools and seeing an individuals end to end career journey is really rewarding to me. I also love supporting businesses with forward thinking people initiatives and seeing the benefits and how it impacts the business goals and strategy.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
Positive energy. I always try to see the positive in everything, I’m a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason so try to remain positive.
What has been your best moment

I love travelling and I also love HR systems so having the opportunity to travel globally at a young age (pre kids and mortgage) and help to implement HR Systems was amazing! My two favourites things rolled into one!
Gina Fleming MCIPD Associate HR Consultant
Why do you work in the field of HR?
It is always about the people in business. I enjoy partnering with Companies to ensure that people are truly at the heart of what they do. It gives me great satisfaction to see people grow and develop throughout their career and being able to be a part of it.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
I love when there is great synergy between people. It is amazing what can be achieved and how it changes the dynamics of a team/company.
What has been your best moment
at work so far?
I have had the opportunity to travel the world by sea and continue working in HR, which has broadened my horizons in both aspects. To meet and work with so many people from all over the world and to go on that journey with them is one of my career highlights for sure!
Helen Roberts Associate Leadership Consultant
Why do you work in the field of HR?
People fascinate me. I love seeing people and teams find and reach their true potential – and to be able to play a part in that – however small – never ceases to motivate me.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
I love all things energy. I was a huge star wars fan as a kid so maybe those early days of “feeling the force” stayed with me! Nature is a huge energy giver in all ways – nothing resets the ego and fuels your self-belief like the great outdoors. On a bad, chaotic or confusing day - take a moment to step outside and just look upwards….you’ll be amazed at what then is possible.
What has been your best moment
at work so far?
A recent delegate described one of my leadership programmes as “life-changing” – work doesn’t get much better than that!
Jill Batterby MCIPD Associate HR Consultant
Why do you work in the field of HR?
I‘ve always held a fascination for people, why they do what they do, what gets them up in the morning? What are their hopes and dreams and what choices will they make. I enjoy getting underneath what we might see on the surface to the root cause and finding tailored solutions to support both Individuals and the businesses I work with.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
Instead of worrying about what you cannot control shift your energy to what you can create” (Roy T Bennett - Author). This quote really resonates with me, I like to focus on things I can achieve and find new and exciting opportunities to channel my energy into, whether that’s at home with my family or at work.
What has been your best moment
at work so far?
One that really stands out is that I was lucky enough to accept the Best Commercial Initiative under 1000 employees award for our approach to Employee Engagement, presented by the Training Journal. I was so thrilled when we were announced as winners - this initiative was a true example of collaboration and team spirit at its best.
Kate van der Sluis FIRP Managing Partner
Why do you work in the field of HR?
Because I’ve seen first hand how great HR support can transform an organisation from good to great (and seen sadly the opposite too many times). Employees are always an organisations’ biggest cost – and potentially their biggest asset. I’m determined that we will boost Humber business through their people with positive, proactive, people-centred HR.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
That spark of connection when everyone is on the same wavelength – and great things happen. Because the best things in life are shared.
What has been your best moment
at work so far?
Several small, quiet moments over the last 18 months, when after 19 years working for other people we set out on this journey and I’ve had the chance to reflect, receive positive feedback and think – this is it: we can make a difference to working lives in our region and work flexibly, and create jobs for amazing HR people.
Kellie Calvert MCIPD Director of HR
Why do you work in the field of HR?
Because I enjoy the complexity of people. I believe if you have the right people strategies in place, you can harness and benefit from that complexity and really utilise the greatest organisational asset every business has.
What’s your favourite type of energy?
I love the energy that comes from a sense of achievement, especially when it is shared.
What has been your best moment
at work so far?
My best moments have been the ones where I have been lucky enough to work with people who are open to change, who look to continually learn and share that knowledge. This is when the good stuff happens and that’s when real organisational growth kicks in.
We are hiring HR Consultants - Could this be you?
We have ambitious growth plans and we are always open to conversations from HR Professionals who are interested in working with us. In this role you would fully manage yourself, your time, your focus, but would have the full support of an experienced and established team and brand.
It is like being self-employed independent consultant – without having to do everything alone.
