Mastering Recruitment: Attracting and Hiring Top Talent
Hiring the right people is one of the biggest challenges – and opportunities – for any growing business. If you're an SME owner juggling multiple hats, this practical session is designed with you in mind. Join us for a focused and commercially-minded session where we’ll share straightforward strategies to:
Hire well – build a recruitment process that attracts the talent your business actually needs
Interview effectively – ask the right questions, spot potential, consider diversity, and avoid costly missteps
Get the right people into your business – whether it’s your next hire or planning ahead for growth
We’ll also hear from a guest contributor with the latest updates on apprenticeships – how they can work for SMEs and the practical steps to get started. Whether you’ve made a few bad hires in the past, are scaling up, or simply want to sharpen your recruitment approach, this session will give you clear, actionable advice to make your next hire your best one yet. Ideal for owner-managers, directors and anyone in a hands-on hiring role.

Right People, Right Seats: Smarter People Management for SMEs
This practical, pro bono masterclass is delivered in partnership with the Business Hive. It is designed for SME leaders facing the day-to-day challenges of managing teams without the luxury of large HR departments or endless time. We’ll explore how to get the right people in the right seats – aligning individual strengths with business needs – and tackle common management hurdles that can impact performance and culture.
The session will cover the essentials of effective performance conversations and feedback, with a focus on real-world communication. Using the DISC behavioural styles, we’ll look at how different people process the same message in very different ways – and what that means for how we lead, delegate, and give feedback. Participants will leave with simple, actionable tools to better understand their team, tailor their communication, and handle those tricky conversations with more confidence and less stress.
