The Challenge 
 
Finding a Leader in Charity Retail with the skills and knowledge to support our charitable objectives whilst sustaining our finances was a real challenge for a local charity. We also wanted a change in culture and brand to really connect with our community. 
 
What We Did 
 
Connecting with Humber HR was the start of a successful journey. They made the job description come to life and matched some perfect candidates. Not only what we though we needed but some wildcards, who where great candidates. The team took responsibility for the whole process from sifting, telephone interviews and setting up both interview stages.

Case Study – Secured £9,000 of Funding secured for training and a key new hire for Level Systems Limited 
 
The Challenge 
 
Level Systems Limited is a highly successful environmental and occupational hygiene company with clients across the UK. Run for the last 6 years by an experienced team, 2021 saw several changes and the need to focus on future employees and boost resource as the company grows. The owner was keen to continue to develop a highly skilled team and create a culture of collaboration and support where employees are valued and respected. 
 
What We Did 
 
We worked with Kathryn to pull together a people plan in line with business objectives and values. This included succession planning. We supported the business with a restructure, wrote job descriptions, and a recruitment plan to hire directly, saving on agency fees. We supported interviews and attracted over 20 applicants for the role, shortlisting to 3 and identifying several candidates for planned hires in 2022. 
 
We identified one of the Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standard approved by IOSH – the Environmental and Safety Technician Level 3 Qualification, and successfully secured funding for this qualification for the new technician who started on 6th December. We also supported the company to review and update employment contracts, and HR policies and developed a 12-week induction and onboarding plan for new employees.

It’s one thing knowing that employing people can be complicated and take up lots of time, that recruitment is tough, that it’s important to retain your key staff, and that apprentice funding is out there – but how does a small business pull this all together? 
 
Case Study – £24,000 of funding secured, new management structure in place, and the launch of a bespoke Creative Training Academy for Disruptive Agency, DA 
 
The Challenge 
 
DA Creative Studio has enjoyed continuous growth over the past year, as their reputation for delivering high-impact campaigns has seen them attract the attention of several new high=profile clients. The agency started to look to the future and recognised that a focus on its people, strengthening its management team, people processes, and systems would enable founder and Creative Director, Calvin Innes, to focus on business growth. 
 
What We Did 
 
January 2021, we started working with Humber HR People. We worked closely with Calvin on a People Plan that aligned with their business objectives. Initially, this work focussed on introducing business objectives. Initially, this work focussed on introducing Breathe HR, a platform for HR administration, and reviewing policies and contracts to build a solid foundation.  
Then, we moved into hiring a key role – a PA for Calvin, to run HR internally, who it’s been a pleasure to work alongside and offer support when needed – and supported the hiring of an experienced manager without the need for expensive agency fees. 
 
We then moved into phase 2 – working closely with the management team, providing an experienced HR Consultant to keep things on track and for regular support and advice. 
 
In Quarter 3, we identified an innovative Level 3 Apprenticeship in industry-leading training on our formal apprentice program, delivered in-house, leading to the Level 3 Junior Content Creator qualification. We successfully secured £24,000 of funding for this training. This offered, permanent, paid, employment with DA working alongside experienced colleagues for new talent to grow with the business. 
 
The Result 
 
We welcomed two new Apprentice Creatives onboard in December 2021 as the agency continues to grow into 2022.
