Humber HR People have been lending a hand to key partners, the University of Hull and Marketing Humber delivered by the Bondholders, to develop a vital new program to support the region’s managers. After a 3-month period of consultation with Humber based businesses, we consistently heard that leadership development courses designed to achieve these outcomes have only been available to owners/managers and managing directors.

Kate van der Sluis, Managing Partner at Humber HR People explained:

“I have heard first-hand that the best performer in a business will find the transition to management tough. It’s a whole new skill set – and behaviour and habits don’t change overnight.

Humber HR People are very pleased to be able to support this program which offers support for new managers and emerging leaders over a sustained period. I believe the support from the Future Leaders network will be extremely valuable and worthwhile.”

The Future Leaders programme has been designed for all organisations to assist individuals who see themselves as a manager to start thinking and acting like a leader. The first Future Leaders Network event is on 3rd June 2019, as part of Humber Biz Week at the KCom Stadium.

 The event will include a Ted-ex style talk from Dr Tom Hoyland, an expert in behavioural psychology and specialist in leadership training. It will challenge conventional views of leadership by exploring how humility can help us be more adaptable to change, to fulfil a role as capable and robust leaders.

 This hour-long session is for First Time Managers, who have moved from experts in their field into management within the last 12 months, or Business Leaders/HR Professionals interested in investing in their managers who want to find out more about the Program.

 Attendees will - gain awareness of Management and Leadership Development - Be introduced to the concept of the Imperfect Leader and some tools to help them become a more authentic leader of their teams - Have the opportunity to network with other First Time Managers outside their organisations - Be offered first refusal for places at the upcoming Future Leaders 2019 Open Program in September 2019.
